I.M. Belisario – Water Jar Vendors, Sketches of Character (1837-38), Collection: Maurice and Valerie Facey

This suite of galleries houses a selection of artworks and artifacts dating from as early as the time of the Jamaican Taino in 1000 AD to the arrival and subsequent colonization periods of the Spanish, then English in fifteenth century Jamaica. It also features the works of notable itinerant European artists such as Phillip Wickstead and George Robertson, both whom came to and produced work in Jamaica during the late-eighteenth century as well as Jamaican-born printmaker and landscape painter, Isaac Mendes Belisario.
